Question 1

Last winter, Alex and Maya planned a trip together to one of four different cities: City A, City B, City C, or City D. They always choose a city that Maya has never visited before unless Alex has already been to that city. Alex has visited City C and City D in the past, while Maya has visited City A and City B.

Which city did Alex and Maya visit last winter?

Statement (1) Maya has never visited City C.
Statement (2) Alex prefers to visit a city with historical landmarks.

A - (1) ALONE is sufficient, but (2) alone is not sufficient.
B - (2) ALONE is sufficient, but (1) alone is not sufficient.
C - TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER ALONE is sufficient.
D - EACH ALONE is sufficient.
E - NEITHER ALONE NOR TOGETHER is the statement sufficient.

  • ANSWER

    Question 1 - E

Answer and explanation Let's analyze each statement and see if they provide enough information to determine which city Alex and Maya visited: (1) Maya has never visited City C. From this statement alone, we know that City C is a possibility for their visit because Maya has never been there. However, we don't know about the other cities, so this statement alone is not sufficient to determine which city they visited. (2) Alex prefers to visit a city with historical landmarks. This statement tells us about Alex's preference but doesn't specify which city they visited. It could be any of the cities depending on whether they have historical landmarks. Therefore, this statement alone is not sufficient either. Combining the two statements, we know that City C is a possibility because Maya has never visited it. However, we still don't know if they visited City C or another city. Statement 2 doesn't provide any additional information about their choice among the remaining cities.

Question 2

Farmers in county Ceros kill the rats by the drug Hisdine, and this drug is known for its usage as insecticide for edible tubers farmed at Ceros.

Has Ceros county successfully eliminated rat menace?

Statement (1) Last year the produce of edible tubers from county Ceros have been tripled by using Hisdine
Statement (2) Researchers find Hisdine blocks heart valves and causes haemorrhage in rats.

  • ANSWER

    Question 2 - C

    Answer and explanation

Statement 1 describes the widespread use of Hisdine for tuber production, indicating increased agricultural activity. However, it does not directly address whether Hisdine targets rats to eliminate the menace. Statement 2 suggests that Hisdine has the potential to kill rats by blocking heart valves and causing hemorrhage. Nevertheless, we lack evidence regarding whether Ceros county has indeed employed Hisdine on its land for pest control. By combining both statements, we attempt to resolve the central question at hand

Question 3

Country Frinadle achieved independence by active participation of nearly 100 revolutionists, the revolutionists are ranging from artists to lawyers to scientists. The least possibility of Country Frinadle not achieving freedom from its colonizer would be

Statement (1) The top professionals and artists have been actively engaged in contribution of each field, and created a wealth of information and activity inspite of ongoing freedom struggle
Statement (2) The doctors of Frinadle treated patients for free of cost unless their country gain independence.

  • ANSWER

    Question 3 - A

    Answer and explanation

The prompt explains that there have been many kinds of revolutionists actively working for independence, and the question poses what would be the least likely scenario if the country never achieves independence. From the analysis, it is clear that it is impossible for the country Frinadle to achieve independence without the participation of professionals and artists. Therefore, the answer must be statements that suggest less participation of these individuals in the freedom struggle.

Statement 1 clearly explains that each professional and artist is deeply engrossed in their respective activities despite the freedom struggle. They may observe the struggle and face some difficulties, but they are primarily focused on contributing to their respective fields alone. This detachment from contributing to freedom results in no possible independence. Therefore, A should be sufficient.

Statement 2 alone cannot be sufficient; in fact, it marginally mentions the contribution of doctors to the freedom struggle. However, the question demands lesser or no contribution to the freedom struggle. Hence, B is eliminated.

C and D are also eliminated because Statement 2 is antithetical to the required question.

E - NEITHER ALONE NOR TOGETHER is the statement sufficient.

Question 4

Songs with lower notes tend to be more soothing and are linked to the secretion of oxytocin, known for its mood stabilizing properties, while songs with higher and sharper notes can instigate testosterone production and spike anger and aggression. Nonetheless, do different song types have an influence on a person’s mental health?

Statement (1) At a rave party, singers who voluntarily sang at a high pitch instead of using lower notes did not provoke the audience to rage and aggression; everyone remained calm and collected.
Statement (2) Certain mood stabilizers are linked to the overall well-being of mental state, and listeners of lower note songs performed better than the controls in overall aspects of mental elegance.

  • ANSWER

    Question 4 - D

    Answer and explanation

The question asks whether different types of songs have an influence on a person's mental health. This is a strengthening question in disguise.

Statement 1: At a rave party, singers who used lower notes voluntarily sang at high pitch did not arouse the audience to rage and aggression, and everyone remained calm and collective.

Statement 2: Certain mood stabilizers are linked to overall well-being of mental state, and listeners of lower note songs performed better than the controls in overall aspects of mental elegance.

    Analyzing the statements:

Statement 1 provides evidence from a specific event indicating that lower note songs did not provoke negative emotions like rage and aggression, which suggests an influence on mental state.

Statement 2 suggests a correlation between lower note songs and better mental performance, aligning with the idea that lower note songs have a positive impact on mental health.

When we analyze each statement alone, both provide evidence supporting the influence of song types on mental health.

Therefore, the correct answer is (D) EACH ALONE is sufficient.

Question 5

Images that pixalate heavily when any attempt made to reduce the file size, the very property of information aka digital loss of dots per inch (dpi), The number of pixels in an image is sometimes called the resolution. The best resolution is always achieved through

Statement (1) – improving the intensity of the pixels, despite reducing the file size
Statement (2) – a file size is reduced by 10 percent and the pixel density was reduced by 10 percent

  • ANSWER

    Question 5 - B

    Answer and explanation

Statement 1: This statement suggests that improving the intensity of pixels despite reducing the file size will lead to the best resolution. Intensity refers to the brightness or color of the pixels. However, increasing pixel intensity may not necessarily improve resolution; it may only enhance the visual quality of the image. Additionally, reducing file size typically involves compression techniques that can lead to pixelation or loss of detail, which may not result in the best resolution. Thus, A, and D are out of the question.

Statement 2 provides a clear and specific guideline for achieving the best resolution: minimize the reduction in pixel density while reducing the file size. It explains that by reducing the file size by only 10 percent while maintaining 90 percent of the original pixel density, the image quality and resolution can be preserved.

Therefore, Statement 2 alone is sufficient to answer the question because it provides a precise and accurate approach to achieving the best resolution.

In summary, Statement 2 alone is sufficient because it offers a clear and specific guideline for achieving the best resolution, thereby providing a satisfactory solution to the question posed.
